Marion Cheung is a fine artist whose philosophy is backed by over 30 years of professional practice. She trained at Central Saint Martins and holds an MA (Distinction) from the University of South Wales, where she currently teaches on the MA Arts in Health course. Her paintings are held in public and private collections, including the National Contemporary Art Gallery for Wales (Celf ar y Cyd) and the USW City Campus.
Marion has developed a mixed-media practice that explores the intersections of memory, belonging, and transformation. Moving between figuration and abstraction, she integrates collage and intuitive mark-making to create surfaces that feel discovered rather than constructed. By layering, obscuring, and reworking materials, Marion treats time as an essential element, mirroring the nature of human experience.
Beyond her studio, she facilitates creative spaces for those in transitional moments, prioritising the therapeutic process of "finding ground" over final artistic outcomes. Central to her work is the belief that art can shift fundamental perspectives; by paying close attention to materials and inner experience, she invites viewers to see and live differently. Her practice ultimately investigates how the creative process nurtures the empathy and resilience required for genuine connection.
